Today is the last day of 2014, and I’m done with cycling for this year – I’d hoped to get out this week but I’ve not been well and have too much work to do. Strava have produced videos for everyone showing their 2014 stats – here is mine:

These are the stats from the video:

  • 4407km ridden
  • 21,552 metres climbed
  • 174 hours 49 minutes total ride time (117 rides)
  • 13 King of the Mountains
  • Longest ride 183km
  • 646 total achievements

The total distance is a bit less than last year, for various reasons but mostly due to ill health. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to go a bit further – winter training will start as soon as I’ve got rid of this cold!

Back in action

I’ve been off the bike for almost two weeks, due to Christmas preparation and work, although I did go out with my sons yesterday for a short ride around the block. I should hopefully get a decent ride in tomorrow. The good news is that I’ve been given the all-clear by the cardiologist so I can now start planning my winter training properly. I can also book my velodrome beginners session which I got as a birthday present! I was worried that I wouldn’t get the all-clear and so wouldn’t be able to try sprinting around the track. I’m sure I won’t get to go full speed anyway in a beginners session but I’m really looking forward to it.
